Now that we have a bit more time to stay on top of things, our staff all agreed that now would be a good time to highlight one of our staff members. Christy Ibeagi has been working with the clients and staff of Evolution Financial Planning since August 2023. After returning from a holiday in 2023, I was hit with the reality that 2 staff members were leaving for greener pastures, and that I would have to fill an administration role very quickly. If anybody knows anything about financial services administration, they will know that it is a different beast and there are some complexities and compliance that really needs to be managed and unfortunately, in a regional town such as Ballina, it is very difficult to attract qualified staff.
For a number of years, I had been entertaining the idea of using an outsource solution and in particular, staff from the Philippines. I had researched and met with many providers but in our firm, we didn’t have the time to train and so we needed an experienced operator. Eventually, I decided that VA Platinum was a suitable provider as they held the same values as our firm and they had already trained Chris for this role. Chris and I undertook an interview and from this meeting, it was apparent that Chris was very motivated, well educated and was able to meet all of our requirements. Of course there would be some growing pains, but we had somebody to help service our clients.
Upon reflection, I wish we had done this earlier. The VA Platinum company is Australian based and they have a very clear understanding of the financial services industry. There emphasis on efficiency, accuracy and security were the 3 main determinants that helped us to decide on working with VA Platinum. They had undertaken significant training and Chris was off to a flying start as she already knew what Superannuation was and how to manage the essential compliance requirements of our firm. Chris has been the foundation staff member over the last 18 months and she is building her knowledge base as well as building rapport with our clients. Chris receives an attractive salary compared to the national average in the Philippines and she receives other significant benefits such as Australian gazetted holidays, meals and of course, she gets to spend time with staff and clients of Evolution Financial Planning.
